Podcast Showcases Exclusive Recordings of Cutting-Edge Classical Performances from New York City’s (Le) Poisson Rouge
Debut Episode Features a Stirring Performance of Composer Steve Reich’s Grammy Award-winning Composition Different Trains
(New York, NY – January 26, 2016) – Starting today, Q2 Music – WQXR’s online music channel dedicated to contemporary classical music – introduces “LPR Live,” a new podcast series offering unprecedented access to world-class performances recorded live at one of New York City’s leading downtown music venues, (Le) Poisson Rouge.
Season One of “LPR Live” will lead listeners through substantial and often full-length works of acclaimed composers and performers, including John Adams, Chris Cerrone, Sarah Cahill, Samuel Adams and Vivian Fung – all recorded live from 2012-2015. Acclaimed pianist and frequent Q2 Music collaborator Conor Hanick will host the podcast, offering personal commentary on the music’s creation and presentation through intimate interviews with today’s most dynamic minds.
The debut episode, available at Q2Music.org and iTunes, explores a riveting performance of Steve Reich’s Grammy Award-winning composition Different Trains by the American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME). Hanick also interviews Reich, cellist Clarice Jensen and violinist Caroline Shaw.
