AURA presents music that is chaotic, unpredictable or represents a disconnection from reality. In “The Death of Ophelia,” Robert Nelson explores Shakepeare’s Ophelia as she goes mad in this brand-new work for soprano and ensemble. Canadian composer Vivian Fung evokes the multitude of conflicting emotions she experienced during the pandemic in “Corona Morphs” and Brazilian composer Alexandre Lunsqui explores the way in which children go through a cycle of abandoning and revisiting their playthings in “Toy”. This program also includes premieres by Mexican composer and conductor Alejandro Basulto and the undergraduate winner of the 2025 UH Sarofim Composition Competition, Caden Flores.
