2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition Prize Winners Announced

First place overall went to the Dover Quartet (USA) who won: $25,000 cash, a quartet of bows custom-made by the Canadian bow-maker François Malo, an international concert tour and a two-week residency at the Banff Centre, and the Esterházy Foundation Prize.In addition, they won the Canadian Commission Prize: $2,000 for the best performance of Vivian Fung’s new work "String Quartet No.3".The Dover Quartet came out on top out of 10 competing quartets. Second and Third place overall went to Quatuor Cavatine (France) and the Navarra Quartet (UK/Ireland/the Netherlands) respectively.Read here for more about the winners and their prizes.
