Review: Flute Concerto "Riveting"
Teaming up with conductor Tania Miller, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra closed its Assante Vancouver Centre online concert series on Thursday evening with a captivating world premiere of Vivian Fung spellbinding flute concerto Storm Within (2021). Commissioned by the VSO and written for the orchestra’s Principal Flute Christie Reside, the new concerto is an intense meditation, with reflections of the pandemic era woven into its fascinating sonic fabric.
