Changing the classical music landscape - Vancouver Sun

From transcendent harmonies to thunderous scores, classical music is a timeless artform. It’s also an industry that has historically been dominated by men. The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra is actively working to change that.

VSO is a thriving organization that promotes and celebrates women artists and leaders. From concert-programming selections to the talents it highlights and beyond, VSO and the VSO School of Music are committed to diversifying the classical music landscape…Women artists are frequently centre stage at the VSO. One of the highlights of the VSO’s current season was the world premiere of composer Vivian Fung’s “Storm Within”, beautifully performed by VSO Principal Flute Christie Reside this past November.
