Vivian Fung grew up in Edmonton and studied composition at the Juilliard School in New York. She has since built an international career with music performed by orchestras around the world.
Fung is known for incorporating global musical traditions into her work. Her travels have taken her to Bali, Cambodia, Tibet, and other regions where she has studied local musical traditions and incorporated them into contemporary orchestral textures.
Her music has received numerous awards, including a JUNO Award for Classical Composition of the Year.
